Pet Owners Who Became Parents: Tell Us How Having A Child Changed Your Relationship With Your Pet
We've all seen those viral feel-good photos. Glowing new parents bring their baby home from the hospital and eagerly make the introduction to their cat or dog, and boom, they're instantly best friends.
Word on the street, though, is that it doesn't always go like this. Maybe a dog gets jealous of the attention given to the new family member, or the baby starts tormenting the family cat.
But what I want to know is how YOUR relationship with your pets changed when you welcomed a child into the family.
Was it easy from the start to make both baby and pet feel loved and cared for? Or did it take time to figure out your new balance?
Maybe with a new baby taking up so much of your time, you didn't have the same time or energy to devote to your pet as you once did, and you felt guilty for it.
Or maybe welcoming a child into the family actually made you appreciate your dog or cat that much more, and you prioritized them even more than you did before.
