Photos: Key moments in Darrell Steinberg’s two terms as mayor of Sacramento

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg gets out on the town – a lot.

The mayor, who announced Thursday that he would not seek a third term, has been a presence in local and state politics in Sacramento since he first joined the City Council in 1992.

Based on the photo captions filed in The Bee’s digital archiving system, Steinberg is among the people we have photographed the most in the past 25 years — only governors Jerry Brown and Arnold Schwarzenegger have been snapped more frequently.

Bee photographers know they are in the right place when they spot the mayor, even if their editors sometimes discourage them from submitting pictures of Steinberg because we have so many already.
