As would-be newlyweds continue to send off a flurry of "love is patient" and "we still do" postponement emails/letters/and pleas, a growing number of couples are forgoing their mega celebrations altogether and opting for paired-back "minimonies."
In Anna Russell's article "The Rise of the Minimony and The Micro-Wedding," she writes that pandemic couples itching for the alter are opting for micro-weddings (fifty guests or fewer), courthouse weddings, and minimonies.
"A minimony might have ten guests: parents, siblings, an officiant standing at a distance. It has all the components of a normal wedding—ceremony, reception, three-tiered cake—shrunk to pandemic proportions," according to Russell.
