Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Donated 200 Beanies to Children in Need for Archie's Birthday
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's birthday gift for their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, had a charitable twist.
Per People, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex donated 200 knit beanie hats to the I Got Your Back Pack initiative for New Zealand children in need. The donation was made in honor of Archie's second birthday last week. The organization Make Give Live posted a video thanking the Sussexes for their support and for placing the generous donation in their young son's name.
"Thank you Harry & Meghan, Duke & Duchess of Sussex, and of course, Archie for the generous donation of these 200 beanies to your friends on the other side of the world in NZ. @igotyourbackpacknz was very grateful for them and they will be sent in care packs to refuges around NZ to warm heads and hearts ❤️," read the note from the organization. "It also meant a lot for our maker community to have something special to bring them together to enjoy connection and creativity whilst making them, and didn't they do an incredible job!? Happy Birthday Archie🎈."
The Sussexes are longtime fans of the children's knitwear brand. Before the Duke and Duchess stepped away from their roles as senior working royals and still utilized social media, the couple shared a sweet video clip featuring a photo of Archie wearing one of the knit creations in Canada with his father.
Harry and Meghan also kicked off a donation drive in honor of Archie's birthday to help achieve global COVID-19 vaccine equity. They urged the public to make contributions that will be ultimately matched by the Seadream Family Foundation and Mastercard Impact Fund up to $3 million.
