Prince Harry’s Body Language at the Coronation Showed “a Hint of Sadness” Toward William
All eyes were on Prince Harry on Saturday during King Charles’s coronation, and his vibe suggested that all the attention and scrutiny weighed on him. The Duke of Sussex showed signs of stress and even some sadness toward his estranged brother, Prince William, according to body-language expert Blanca Cobb, who spoke to Cosmopolitan about the subtle signals Harry was sending out into the world during his quick appearance at the historic event.
“Although Prince Harry walks with confidence, as evidenced by his straight posture, shoulders pulled back, head level, and arms by his side, his face and hands show slight tension,” Cobb says. “His smile is tense as his lips are held tight and the corners pull out slightly. Additionally, there’s a seriousness in his eyes as his bottom eyelids appear tight. Harry’s fingers are slightly curved underneath his hands, and it appears that his thumb is pressing into his fingers on his left hand. These signs suggest that Prince Harry is feeling slightly stressed.”
One source of that stress could have been the seating chart, which was the subject of all kinds of speculation and unsolicited opinions from royal fans on both sides of the pond (and on both sides of the royal feud). Even though Harry was seated three rows behind Will and his wife, Kate Middleton, he was still close enough to send vibes their way (sad vibes, according to Cobb).
“Speculation that the royal brothers wouldn’t be sitting beside each other at the coronation was correct. Instead of looking straight ahead like the other guests, Prince Harry turns to the right to glance at his brother, Prince William. Although he tries to keep his face stoic, the slight downward pull of Harry’s lips indicates a hint of sadness. His glare toward his brother makes us wonder what he’s trying to figure out.”
And if we weren’t wondering that before, we definitely are now.
