Even future Kings don't get everything right; just ask Prince William about his gift-giving skills. During an appearance on BBC Radio Five Live's "That Peter Crouch Podcast," the Duke of Cambridge opened up about a present-related mishap he made early on in his relationship with Kate Middleton.

"That was early on in the courtship that was. I wrapped them. They were really nice," William said, per People. "I was trying to convince myself about it. I was like, ‘But these are really amazing, look how far you can see!’ She was looking at me going, ‘They’re binoculars, what’s going on?’ It didn’t go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars."

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have been too catastrophic a mistake, as Kate and William would still go on to tie the knot and have three kids.

Like all parents, the Duke and Duchess have had to negotiate the challenges of homeschooling amid the pandemic—and they've freely admitted that it's not easy. On the podcast, William said he'd recently learned that "my patience is a lot shorter than I thought it was ... and that my wife has a lot of patience." He added, "I was a bit embarrassed about my maths knowledge—I can’t do Year 2 Maths!"

Now that the Duke's eldest, Prince George, is presumably sufficient in elementary math, maybe he can help his dad out sometime.
