Priyanka Chopra's choppy bob is the perfect summer haircut inspiration
Attending the glittering launch of Bulgari’s Aeterna High Jewellery Collection in Rome this week, the brand's ambassador Priyanka Chopra turned heads not least because of her new hairstyle, a chic choppy bob.
Framing her 200-carat diamond choker necklace, the actor referenced the motivation behind the move on her Instagram Stories: "When the jewels deserve a haircut for a better view".
The boxy bob, cut and styled with tousled texture, looked cool and current – offering perfect inspiration for the impending summer season when the lure towards short hair can be collectively felt.
However, Chopra's fling with the look was fleeting, given that she stepped out – from the Italian capital's Bulgari Hotel – sporting her signature long locks the following day. Whether the work of a wig or hair extensions, both styles looked entirely convincing thanks to her hairdresser Thibaud Salducci.
As London-based hairstylist and trend forecaster Tom Smith tells Bazaar, now is a "playful time in hair", with people experimenting with expressive cuts, colours and styles. "Health and wealth signalling" is another key theme for summer 2024 he says, with a more towards us showcasing investments in our hair health and appearance. Clearly, Chopra got the memo.
Whether either length will remain on the star for the weeks ahead is unknown, but for now we'd love to see more style variations of her bob. Here's hoping that she next steps out with the "bell-bottom" version (another hot look, as cited by Smith) – the cut styled with intentionally exaggerated flipped-out ends to resemble a silhouette that's bell-like – or bell-bottom-like.
