There are a lot of surprising things about the Queen that many people might find unusual. Like the fact that the 92-year-old owns all of the swans in Britain and has an ATM in Buckingham Palace.

However, we’ve just discovered that the Monarch has a fake hand and our minds are blown.

The ‘hand’ is actually a stuffed glove that was gifted to Queen Elizabeth years ago by a group of Australian students.

And while there is no evidence that the Queen actually uses the ‘hand’ while she’s out on royal engagements, Princess Anne has revealed that Her Majesty loved the device.

“They gave her a stuffed glove on a wooden lever so you could tweak the end of the lever and this hand went to and fro,” the Queen’s daughter said in an interview for the ‘Queen of the World’ book.

“I think they thought it was cheeky, but Her Majesty was thrilled.”

Indeed, the Queen is rarely spotted waving to the public without her trusty white glove and there’s no doubt the contraption would come in handy when she’s expected to wave for extended periods of time.

“The Queen was rather taken with it and I think it ended up at Balmoral,” author of Queen of the World Robert Hardman said in his book.

“I don’t think she ever used it in public, but I hear it became a much-loved family joke.”

The Queen famously has a great sense of humour, which has come out on many occasions while being interviewed or our meeting the public.

In April, a clip of the Queen’s interview with David Attenborough went viral after she compared an overhead helicopter sound to Donald Trump.

“Why do they always go round and round when you want to talk?” she asked Attenborough in the clip.

“It sounds like President Trump … or President Obama.”

At the Commonwealth meeting in Malta in 2015, the Queen also joked about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, when he told the audience he is the 12th Canadian Prime Minister to serve during her reign.

“Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister of Canada, for making me feel so old!,” the Queen replied, as the audience broke out in a bout of laughter.
