Reba McEntire rewears iconic red dress from 1993 -- and looks stunning
If Reba McEntire’s red, sequined dress at Sunday night’s ACM Awards looked familiar — it’s because it was!
More than two decades ago, McEntire debuted a stunning, curve-hugging gown at the 1993 CMA Awards while she performed “Does He Love You” with Linda Davis.
The iconic country music moment was revisited at the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. While Davis didn’t appear on stage alongside the performer – she was replaced by McEntire’s daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson – 63-year-old McEntire’s dress stole the show — and she looked just as good as she did 25 years ago.

While the dress isn’t that risqué compared to today’s red carpet trends, it was a controversial choice for the 1993 awards because of its sequins, plunging neckline and sheer detailing.

After finishing the performance on Sunday, McEntire thanked her friend Sandi Spika Borchetta for designing the dress, confirming it was in fact the exact same dress from 1993. Boasting its own Wikipedia page, the red dress has been showcased in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn.
“It was very revealing and I didn’t know that!” McEntire told People in 2016. “When I put it on in the dressing room at the Grand Ole Opry for the show, I thought, ‘Maybe it’s just the lighting in here.’ And when I walked out on the stage, I heard the audience go ‘Oooooh!’ And I thought, ‘Dang, I look good!‘”
Twenty five years later, and the audience was still mesmerized.
