While many beauty YouTubers like to encourage viewers the practice of a five-step (and sometimes more) nighttime skin regimen I am one editor that believes that less is more when it comes to skincare. My go to skincare routine is relatively simple: makeup removal, a thorough cleanse followed with serum and moisturizer.

Sure, it doesn’t sound special, but it does the job while saving me tons of time to relax before bed. The key to an effective skincare regime is using quality products, and like me, Reese Witherspoon appears to be a fan of keeping things nice and simple.

Wearing a fuzzy white robe, The Big Little Lies star took to Instagram earlier this month to walk fans through her easy, three-step nighttime routine, which included a $125 facial massage tool.

Step one: Cleanse

After pulling her hair back into a comfortable ponytail, the 43-year old started off with the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Replenishing Cleansing Oil ($45) to remove her makeup — which is no surprise considering Witherspoon is an ambassador for the brand. “This takes off all my makeup and makes my skin so soft and moisturized.”

Unlike makeup wipes and micellar water, this luxurious oil is enriched with essential lipids like Omega 3, 6 and 9 and Vitamin E to nourish the skin as it dissolves all face and eye makeup.

Step two:

Coveted massagers like the jade roller and the rose quartz Gua Sha have been dermatology proven to help stimulate blood circulation for a more plump and youthful complexion. Witherspoon’s massager of choice is the Nurse Jamie Nuvibe RX Amethyst Massaging Beauty Tool ($125).

“I also love this massager from Nurse Jamie — It feels so good. I do it in the morning, too, a little bit,” Witherspoon said as she massaged her face.

The Oscar winner added, “It helps me get rid of the dark circles in the morning.”

Step three:

Followed by a quick and final rinse, Witherspoon introduced a new product to her routine: the Elizabeth Arden Prevage Progressive Renewal Treatment ($215), a four-week at-home peeling treatment.

“You take this little bottle and then you push it and all the ingredients mix up together like that,” she said as she gently patted the product onto her skin. “This is very gentle and acts like a skin peel.”

The intensive treatment is designed to provide resurfacing benefits and antioxidant protection to reveal smoother, bright and younger-looking skin week after week. Great for all skin types, especially those that experience dehydration and hyperpigmentation.
