Reformation's balletcore collection has arrived — here's how I'm styling it for fall
It is in fact possible to wear this trend without looking like you're wearing a ballerina costume.
Despite never having taken ballet as a kid, it's a hobby that I picked up as an adult a few years ago and haven't looked back. I do my best to make it out to a class once a week (it's a killer workout!), but Reformation's newest collaboration with the New York City Ballet lets me channel my inner ballerina on the daily.
Relaxed Cashmere Wrap
Mikayla Ballet Flat
Liza Ultra High Rise Straight Jeans
Winnie Knit Bodysuit
Edda Skirt
Sierra Oversized Coat
Flor Dress
Maire Dress
Jaclyn Satin Top
Aria Cashmere Two Piece
Barbara Ballet Flat
Beile Cashmere Top
The collection features a range of ballet-inspired silhouettes — think bodysuits, wrap sweaters, and of course, flats that are practically pointe-worthy. However, if you're worried about the balletcore trend looking too costume-y, I'm here to show you that you can in fact add it to your wardrobe this fall.
Ahead, check out how I styled some of the pieces from the Ref x NYCB collection with pieces from my own closet.
For a casual outing to get my nails done, I paired the Relaxed Cashmere Wrap with an old pair of Reformation jeans and the Mikayla Ballet Flat. I was worried that the shoes would be stiff or uncomfortable, but they're actually made from super-soft leather that molds to your feet — just be warned that they run large and you'll want to size down for the best fit.

This chic wrap sweater gives ballet vibes without being over the top.
These pointe shoe-inspired flats are made from buttery soft leather.
These high rise jeans (mine are an older wash) pair perfectly with the cropped cashmere wrap sweater.
Unfortunately, temperatures are dropping, which means that it's time to break out your outerwear for fall. Here I'm wearing the Sierra Oversized Coat (size down for a more fitted look!), along with the Winnie Knit Bodysuit and the Edda Skirt for a ballet-inspired look. Instead of flats, which could verge on costume territory, I paired this outfit with some tall cowboy boots instead.

This knit bodysuit has a boat neckline and an open scoop back.
A bow detail at the waist adds an extra feminine touch to this silk mini skirt.
Made from recycled wool, this oversized coat keeps you warm and toasty.
While I haven't worn the Flor Dress out just yet, I'll be attending a wedding in a few weeks and this is a great option for a fall wedding guest look. The dress has a stunning open back and floral appliques along the neckline and waist, plus two front slits that aren't nearly as dramatic as the product photos make them seem. You can shop this dress in two shades: Red and moonlight, a silvery silk.
