Rihanna shows off natural beauty in 'raw' and 'real' makeup-free selfie

In the age of influencers and FaceTune, Rihanna has proven to be the heroine the internet needs.

The 31-year-old singer turned fashion and beauty mogul made her makeup-free return to social media for the first time in 2020. Dressed in a black hoodie, the 31-year-old star pulled her hair back in braids, showing off her enviable edges and fresh, glowing skin.

“First selfie of the year doe. #2020,” she captioned the photo.

The star’s more than 78 million followers dubbed the photo “so raw” and “so real,” praising the Fenty Beauty founder for showing off her “natural beauty” without covering up a blemish near her cheek.

“Raw beauty and raw edges is all we ask for,” one follower wrote.

“She looks 15, honestly,” added another. “I thought this was an old photo.”

When a fan offered to pop the pimple on her chin, in true Rihanna fashion, the singer chimed in, demanding the blemish be left alone.

“Let her have her shine, PLEASE!” she quipped.

The response earned the down-to-earth star even more praise for being real about her imperfections.

“Yas queen - got two healing on my chin and am so embarrassed but to see this made my day!” a female follower replied.

“We all have breakouts!” a separate user commented. “Even if you have the best skincare routine, acne happens. Plus, do you see any hyperpigmentation? No, her skin is f-cking even.”

In March 2019, it was reported that Rihanna registered “Fenty Skin” with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Many believe the selfie was a subtle hint at what’s to come for Fenty Beauty, with products expanding into “medicated and non-medicated skincare, soap, body care, and personal care products...and related accessories such as kits, tools and applicators.”

While the status of Fenty Skin is still unknown, Riri has previously shared secrets to maintaining healthy skin.

In 2014, the singer told Elle magazine, “When I feel like my skin has had it, I cut out all the alcohol completely and over do the water.”
