Road trip, Boise? Everyone gets a free pizza when this new Meridian restaurant opens

Don’t be surprised if you see endless brake lights and turn signals on Ten Mile Road in Meridian next week.

Or Idahoans riding in on e-scooters. Or horseback.

A new Blaze Pizza will debut Tuesday at 413 S. Innovation Lane. To celebrate the grand opening, the restaurant is making a huge mistake — er, unveiling a crowd-pleasing promotion.

The restaurant will give away for free an 11-inch, build-your-own pizza to anyone who visits. The deal is good all day, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Yes, you can eat a free pizza for breakfast.

An Atlanta-based franchise chain with more than 300 locations, Blaze Pizza isn’t new to the Treasure Valley. There’s already a store at 2206 N. Eagle Road in Meridian, plus locations in Boise, Eagle and Nampa.

Still, free pizza typically translates into drooling interest. Especially when it’s an entire pie — even a personal one.

Calling its food “artisanal,” Blaze cranks out pizzas lickety-split using a “blazing hot” oven. Three minutes later? “Perfectly crisp perfection.”

Eh, there might be a slightly longer wait Tuesday. At least before the pizzas make it to that zillion-degree oven. Blaze lets customers choose from more than 45 ingredients — ranging from fresh basil and banana peppers to applewood bacon, crumbled meatballs and vegan spicy chorizo. And toppings are (God help us all) unlimited?

Idaho’s newest Blaze Pizza store is giving away free pizzas on Oct. 22. It’s an everyday value of $10.45.

In addition to enjoying a free pizza, “all guests will have the chance to spin the Blaze Wheel of Fire for a chance to win swag, free menu items or free pizza for a year,” according to a press release.

If you decide to skip — or miss out on — the grand-opening brouhaha, Blaze Pizza will continue normal business hours the next day: 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 10:30 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Assuming there’s any pizza left.
