Selena Gomez And Benny Blanco Had Discussed Engagement ‘For A While’
Selena Gomez announced her engagement to Benny Blanco just last night, but the couple of a year and a half 'had been talking about taking next steps in their relationship for a while,' a source told Entertainment Tonight yesterday.
The insider opened up about how Blanco and Gomez are looking forward to getting married and having children eventually. 'They are on the same page with what they want their future to look like and would love to start a family together someday,' the source shared, adding, 'They feel like they have both found their "person".'

They adore each other, the source said: 'Benny worships Selena and she is madly in love with him. Selena feels secure and supported by Benny, and they are always laughing and having the best time together.'
Right now, they are just 'thrilled to be engaged,' the insider said.
Gomez spoke to Vanity Fair in September about her plans to start a family by the time she turns 35 (Gomez is 32). 'Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of going on a few dates,' she said. 'And I was like, "Okay, if this is the vibe, then what is the most important thing to me? Family."'
'I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,' she added. 'I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.' But she is thankful to be in a position to have different pathways to parenthood.
'I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,' Gomez said. 'It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be mums. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.'
As for her and Blanco, she told the outlet that they felt no pressure to take any next steps. 'We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules,' she said. 'I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.' And if she does get married, 'I’m not changing my name no matter what. I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.'
