Serena Williams Discussed Her "Selfless Friend" Meghan Markle's Oprah Interview

Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's powerful interview with Oprah Sunday night, Markle's friend Serena Williams is speaking up.
On social media, the tennis star penned a note of support for her friend and what she experienced with the royal family. "Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life – and leads by example – with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she experienced," she wrote.
She went on to say that she knows first hand the "the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of color to minimize us, to break us down and demonize us. We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism."
In the caption, she reiterated how proud she was of Meghan and Harry. "You are strong – both you and Harry. I love you. I adore you," she said.

In the interview, Markle discussed how trapped she felt in the royal family. "I've left the house twice in four months, I'm every where but I'm no where," she told Oprah. She said eventually she contemplated suicide. "I just didn't want to be alive anymore she said."
