Shell-abrate National Lobster Day at these restaurants in the Charlotte area
Is New England calling, but you don’t have time for a getaway from Charlotte right now? Turns out, you don’t have to travel all the way to Maine to get quality lobster rolls and tails. Wednesday, Sept. 25 is National Lobster Day, and there are several lobster dishes at local restaurants worth celebrating.
Did you notice there was another National Lobster Day back in June? It’s celebrated twice every year, on June 16 and Sept. 25. This month’s is the newer one — it was created by the U.S. Senate in 2015. No matter when you celebrate, here are some of our local favorites:
Boujee Soul Food
Location: City Kitch, 2200 Thrift Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208
What to order: Boujee Soul Food’s Collard Green & Lobster Wontons ($15) includes lobster tail meat, savory collard greens, spices and cheese; fried in a crispy wonton. You get five pieces, served with sweet and sour dipping sauce.
Brown Bag

What to order: At Brown Bag, go for a lobster roll, served warm in a toasted bun. It comes with with truffle-parm tots ($34). Note: Credit and debit cards.
Burton’s Grill & Bar

What to order: Burtons Grill’s signature lobster rolls ($29) are offered seasonally, starting July 1. The rolls — stuffed with knuckle and claw meat — are served cold and lightly dressed with lemon and a touch of mayonnaise, or hot with melted butter and lemon.
Cafe Monte

What to order: Lobster and crab crepes ($25 at lunch or $28 at dinner). On Friday nights, you’ll also have the option of ordering a full lobster dinner ($52).
Caroline’s Oyster Bar

What to order: Get a Shrimp & Lobster Roll, served on a buttered New England bun, citrus mayo and celery salt. ($24)

What to order: Catalina Kitchen’s Lobster and Shrimp Roll is made with poached lobster, herb-boiled shrimp, celery, lemon aioli and lettuce on a New England-style roll ($20 at lunch or brunch; $22 at dinner).
