This Simba mattress has more than 230K 5-star reviews — so I put it to the test
Read on for writer's honest review of Simba's Hybrid Green Organic Mattress.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love my sleep — and it also impacts how I feel. Less sleep usually means a crankier, sluggish day — and the more sleep, the more productive and happy I am.
One of the key factors when it comes to my happiness is in achieving this is ensuring I have the right tools for a great sleep — which includes a good mattress.
So when I saw Simba Sleep claiming to have created the "perfect" mattress resulting in the perfect night's sleep, I of course had to try it.
Thirty days is apparently a good amount of time to allow the body to adjust to a new mattress, so I tested this one for a full month before coming to any conclusions.

However, some warn that the comfort does not last very long
The Simba Hybrid Green Organic Mattress
What is it
The Simba Hybrid Green Organic Mattress is an organic mattress made of 100 per cent recyclable materials.
It features six layers, including a cotton cover, breathable renew layer, latex comfort layer, supportive aerocoil spring layer, a zoned supportcore base and breathable 3D mesh. In addition to the carefully thought out materials, the mattress is hand-stitched to guarantee quality and be more eco-friendly.
The mattress is equipped with "open-cell" Simbatex foam, infused with graphite that draws heat away from the body as well as a comfort layer to ensure good airflow ultimately regulating temperature as you sleep adding to the overall comfort.
First impressions
Getting the mattress out of the box and onto my bedframe was quiet the task. So as soon as it was out, I laid down immediately and it felt great — but I do think that was in part due to my level of tiredness from setting up the mattress.
Once I relaxed more, I started to really feel it out and while it did still feel good, it was softer than what I am normally used to, making me feel not as supported. It kind of felt like a marshmallow on my back, but I could definitely still feel that there was a layer of support. It's hard to explain exactly how it felt, but the instructions do mention that the mattress can take up to 72 hours to fully expand, so I wanted to wait and see if it would firm up some more over time.
Something else I noticed almost immediately was how cooling the mattress felt to the touch and also when I laid on it — it truly felt like the temperature was regulating based on my body temperature, which was really cool.
Apart from the firmness level, I had no other complaints. It looked great and did feel nice to lay on, but it was way too soon to draw any real conclusions.
What people are saying
Simba prides itself on being the world's most reviewed mattress brand with 230,000 5-star reviews. The mattresses have an average rating of 4.8 stars with customers raving about how comfortable it is.
"Absolutely amazing mattress. Perfect firmness and the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Feels like it'll last for many years too. All around great purchase," writes one customer.
"Amazing comfortable mattress, at a good price. Very comfortable. Just purchased a second one for my spare room and guests commented on the comfort," says another reviewer.
While many customers loved the mattress, some do say it does not hold up for very long.
"I liked this product as new but within in 10 months, this mattress has gone worst. I am having problem with sleeping and during sleep I feel I am constantly pulled towards one side as the area where is sleep has sunk," says one customer.
"Really not impressed by this mattress at all. It was great for the first few months then I started getting aches and pains in my back and shoulders," cautions another reviewer.
My thoughts after testing
The first night after sleeping on the mattress I woke up with body aches because my body was no way near adjusted to the new mattress. But despite the aches I honestly did feel very well-rested and I did indeed have a good night's sleep.
It took about a week before my body adjusted to the softness of the bed and the aches went away. It also took around the same amount of time for my body to get used to the temperature regulation. I actually felt really cold and uncomfortable the first few nights, but eventually that settled down.
So...is it worth it?
Overall, I wouldn't go as far as saying that it is the perfect mattress for me, purely due to the level of firmness — but apart from that, it was great.
Initially, I wasn't even a fan of the cooling feel of the mattress, but now I love it since it really does help with the comfort level when in bed.
My husband on the other hand cannot stop raving about it and how great his back and body feels with this mattress. I will say it has been nice to not feel him tossing and turning constantly lately, which could be because he is comfortable, but also because the mattress provides minimal to no movement transfer.
Simba does have a 100 night comfort guarantee and does offer other firmness level options — so I may eventually try another variety.
