SLO County restaurant to give out free Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve meals to those in need

Fireside dining and a view of the Pacific seems quaint enough. Add on some community service for the holidays, and you’ve entered Mirazur restaurant in Los Osos.

After its grand opening in March, the European-style restaurant crafted Thanksgiving meals for those in need and plans to do the same for Christmas Eve.

Co-owners Alejandro Flores and Marco Lucatero said they have a vision entering the new year of community work for every month at its 1365 Second St. location in Los Osos.

“It’s something that we have to work on always,” Flores said. “For every month ... how are we going to give back? What are we going to do with the community?”

Mirazur provided Thanksgiving meals free of charge, and planned to advertise on Nextdoor, Facebook and word of mouth for Christmas Eve, according to Flores.

“I’m just gonna put it out there,” Flores said. “If anybody needs a meal or something just reach out to us and we’ll give you a meal.”

Flores said the restaurant will also host Christmas Eve dinner and New Year’s Eve dinner, with spots filling fast.

What else is on the menu?

The restaurant is in a partnership with Michelin star pastry chef Florencia Breda and quality ingredients and dishes are at the forefront of the restaurant, but another focus is on comfort and community, Flores said.

“We want them to also come and experience our hospitality,” Flores said. “I always tell my team that yes, we sell food, but it’s much more than just that. It’s service and hospitality. How do we make people feel?”

Flores said he and Lucatero frequently visit the tables of Mirazur and check in on their customers while also serving dishes. The fan-favorite for dinner is the Baywood burger, which resembles a classic California burger, and the salmon salad, according to Flores.

Lunch service’s menu includes fish tacos, salads, burgers and sandwiches. New additions to the dinner menu are the lobster tail and a ribeye.

Brunch is currently offered on weekends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but as of Wednesday Flores said he plans to turn the brunch menu into an everyday option for guests.

Happy hour is also served with small bites, draft beers, wine and cocktails every day from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. according to the menu on its Instagram.

What’s next for Mirazur?

Flores said there are discussions circling the idea of a Wine Wednesday, and while the restaurant has been hosting “winedays” unofficially, he will announce the new addition soon.

Mirazur is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
