‘Snowflakes on the Sand’ event turns Pismo Beach into a seaside winter wonderland

Community members showed up at the Pismo Pier on Saturday to decorate the beach with snowflakes, ringing in the holiday season in Central Coast style.

The “Snowflakes in the Sand” workshop was led by SLO County local Avery Kitner, a sand artist who decorates beaches with mancala designs.

The event was hosted by the Pismo Beach Conference and Visitor Bureau.

Event attendees brought their own paper snowflake designs and raked them into the sand, turning the beach into a seaside winter wonderland.

“The event is meant to bring the community together for the holiday season,” event spokesperson Emma Rhoads told The Tribune. “Avery is an incredible local artist that we’ve worked with for numerous events in Pismo Beach.”
