Are 'LIB' Season 5's Taylor And JP Still Together?Netflix

Buckle up, folks. Love Is Blind is finally back with its brand new season and this one is one for the history books. I'm talking exes who re-meet on the show, broken engagements, awkward comments, and all the other trials and tribulations that come with dating someone through a wall. With seven episodes out, things are heating up, and the relationships are getting to "make-or-break" territory.

If you need to get up to speed, the reality show's entire premise is proving that love can be blind. Contestants meet and date each other in pods, separated by a wall, and they are only allowed to see each other in person once they decide to get engaged. It's messy, it's wacky, and it certainly makes for good television. This season takes the production crew to Houston, Texas, where singles try to find their soul mates.

Naturally, people have a lot of questions about this new batch of contestants, and fans want to know who ended up together at the end of it all. If you've already started watching, you've probably noticed that one couple in particular totally hits it off: JP Pierce and Taylor Rue.

These two seem to click super early on in the pods, and they definitely seem like they're in it for the long haul. So, are JP and Taylor still together? Here’s everything to know right now.

**Warning! Spoilers ahead. Stop reading now if you don't want to know what goes down during season 5.

Who is JP?

JP, or Jared, is a 32-year-old firefighter who really, really loves America. Like, his Instagrams are packed with pics of him in red, white, and blue gear, and the flag makes frequent appearances in his wardrobe throughout the season. According to JP's Netflix bio, “when it comes to dating he needs some help coming out of his shell.” JP explained that the dating scene in Houston is “too superficial for his taste” and that he was hoping to find someone who is ready for a long-term commitment.

Enter sweet Taylor.

Who is Taylor?

Taylor is a 26-year-old teacher who says in her Netflix bio that she’s “so tired of dating based off of looks.” She wants a man who is slightly taller than her and says honesty is important.

In some of her interviews, Taylor talks about how she hasn’t always felt confident in herself, but is in a good place now and feels really happy about where her life is headed.

Fun fact: Christmas is her favorite time of year.

What happens in the pods?

JP and Taylor hit it off early on, which isn’t surprising. She’s a Southern belle; he’s really into patriotism—it sorta makes sense on paper.

The two talk about their families, their lives, their insecurities, and dreams for the future. They even come up with cute nicknames for each other: JP calls Taylor “sugar” and she calls him “sugarbutt.” They seem really, really well suited for each other.

These two don't really get serious with any of the other contestants in the pods, so it totally makes sense that...

They get engaged.

In a move that shocked absolutely no one, Taylor and JP become the first couple to get engaged out of the pods. Congrats to the happy couple!

That said, things definitely felt a little weird between these two after they meet in real life. While they seemed destined to be together and conversation came super easily in the pods, it's super awkward when they meet in person, and JP comments about how he can see her false eyelashes.

JP is, by nature, really quiet, and it becomes clear during the lengthy pauses that happen after he proposes in person that these two might have a little more work to do so they can get on the same page. That said, they both seem excited to be together.

However, as time goes on and Taylor tries to get him to talk to her and share his feelings, they just can’t get to the same level that they were at in the pods. It takes some time before he can explain to her why he's being so awkward. And that just opens another can of worms.

What happens in Mexico?

When the couple heads to Mexico for a little R&R, the awkwardness continues. While the other couples frolic and kiss on the beach, they sit almost silently together in the hot sun. Taylor confesses that she sobbed after they met IRL during their engagement, and JP is less than sympathetic, telling her that she just thinks too much.

The two do have fun on a four wheeler date (I mean, how can you not?) but they never get back to that pods-level intimacy and connection.

Are they still together?

Yeah, that’s a big old no.

On their last night in Mexico, Taylor finally got JP to talk about what was going on, and he told her that he isn't into her look. Specifically, JP said that he was freaked out that she wore makeup and false eyelashes to their first meeting, saying it was “a ton of makeup” and that it made Taylor seem "fake." It made him feel awkward around her, and that's why he'd been acting weird.

Understandably, Taylor is super offended by this, but JP doubles down and says that if they get married, he'd prefer that she never wear makeup. Taylor, who only wore makeup at that first meeting and went barefaced in Mexico, says that's not fair of him to say.

JP's comments were ultimately the last straw for Taylor, and she calls things off toward the end of their trip. And Taylor tells WH that was the last time they saw each other in person. They've talked afterwards, but never met up again.

"[We are] not friends. I don't know if we could ever get to that friend level," Taylor says. "But I want nothing but good things for him. I mean, I was heartbroken after it, so I feel like I just couldn't be friends with him, but like I said, I want nothing but good things for him."

What did Taylor think of JP's comments?

Obviously, Taylor was not happy about what went down in Mexico. And she shared some of her post-filming thoughts with WH. She's still confused about his response and thinks it's a "cop out" answer.

"I am who I am, and I'm not going to change myself," Taylor says. "And, to me, that was just such a silly comment to basically say that it's different because of the way I look when you're on a show that's purely based on an emotional connection, which we built."

She is definitely surprised that things didn't work out in the end.

"I was not expecting it. I mean, I was engaged to this man. I thought this was the love of my life. Like, I'm gonna go home, I'm gonna marry this man, all the emotions that went with that," Taylor says. "And so, to have that ripped away from me in Mexico, I was shocked and I was hurt."

Is Taylor dating anyone?

Yes! She is now in a new happily dating someone new, she tells WH. But it's more casual right now. "We're just dating. It's been fun though. … [I’m] in a good place. Happy as can be," she says.
