New spot for boba tea, fresh fruit smoothies and mochi waffles has arrived in Gastonia

Bambu, a Vietnamese-inspired boba tea franchise with over 70 locations across the U.S., is set to celebrate the grand opening of its new Gastonia location on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday Sept. 8.

From owners Cory Eckrote and Chi Trinh, the shop offers a menu featuring boba teas, fresh fruit smoothies, Vietnamese coffee and a variety of Asian-inspired desserts.

As the restaurant soft opened in April, Eckrote said Bambu has already “seen a good bit of repeat customers.”

Eckrote told CharlotteFive, “We are local to Gastonia, and we wanted to serve the community that we live in, so that’s why we opened in Gastonia.”

Among its Ché drinks is the Ube Halo Halo, a traditional Filipino dessert, made with coconut, jackfruit, red tapioca, red beans and topped with Ube Ice Cream. Food influencer Angela Chan of @charlottedatenight wrote the treat was her “absolute favorite!” via Instagram, saying: “It reminds me of the Vietnamese desserts that I would order from the Eden Center in Virginia.”

“For anyone who has never had chè before, I would recommend the Bambu Favorite.” Eckrote said, “The traditional Vietnamese coffee is one of my personal favorites on our menu.”
