Spotify’s AI playlist feature rolls out to the US and more markets
Spotify has expanded the availability of its AI Playlist tool to the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand after initially launching it for Premium subscribers in the U.K. and Australia.
This feature, currently in beta on Android and iOS devices, allows users to create personalized playlists based on written prompts. For instance, users can enter "a romantic playlist for date night at home" and receive a customized selection of songs to match the mood.
The playlist can be further refined by adding more prompts, and Spotify also provides suggestions for prompts. The company recommends mixing genres, moods, artists, and decades to create unique playlists tailored to individual tastes. Additionally, users can further customize their experience by adding locations, animals, movie characters, colors, and even emojis.
According to Spotify, the AI feature has been successful in the U.K. and Australia, with subscribers creating "millions of playlists that they keep coming back to," the company wrote in today’s blog post.
The AI-powered playlist creation tool can be found in the "Your Library" tab by selecting the plus button (+) at the top right of the screen and choosing “AI Playlist” in the menu next to "Playlist" and "Blend.” Users can tap the "Create" button to save the playlist to their library.
