Kendall Jenner’s Glam Room Is the Size of a ‘Normal Person’s Bedroom’

There’s a reason you rarely, if ever, see any of the Kardashian or Jenner ladies au naturel. #WokeUpLikeThis? Not so much.

Take it from Martyn Lawrence Bullard, an award-winning Los Angeles-based interior designer who created glam rooms for Kendall Jenner, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, and Kris Jenner. “When you’re getting your glam done, it’s a personal experience. It’s private time,” he says.

All the sisters except Kendall, who lives farther away, like to get ready together. So the glam room they use has to be spacious and warm, with perfect lighting and a chill vibe. (We imagine Melania Trump’s boudoir, which she’ll have as first lady, is probably just as on point.)

Kendall’s glam room “is a free-flow space. Kendall can have her stylist go in and she can try on clothes,” Bullard says. “There’s a beautiful counter that’s kind of high, about 42 inches. There’s a customized chair created for their height. You need a TV because sometimes glam can take two hours and it gets boring.” She has her magazine covers framed and hung for inspiration.

But when she’s not working or walking a red carpet, Kendall prefers a lighter touch.

“She is less maintenance than all the other girls. In her day-to-day life, she doesn’t wear makeup for every day. She doesn’t wear makeup at all, only when she goes out or has to work,” says Bullard.

As for decor, “Her vibe is quite hip,” he notes. “We have an amazing ’70s crystal chandelier in the center of the room. It’s monochrome, black, and white. We make sure every possible thing you can want is within arm’s reach. There’s a refrigerator filled with really chilled water, special makeup, special creams so they maintain their pH balance.”

Of course, size is relative. But Bullard says that Kendall’s glam room is “not that big, actually. It’s the size of a normal person’s bedroom. It’s not huge. You don’t need a lot of space. Kris’s new glam room is also relatively small.”

On the other side of the size spectrum, however, is Beyoncé’s space for getting glam.

“When I go to Beyoncé’s house, it’s always fun. She has an apartment for glam. That’s all I’ll say,” Sir John, a brand ambassador and celebrity makeup artist for L’Oréal Paris as well as Beyoncé’s go-to beauty guru, tells Yahoo Beauty. “It’s strictly for the wardrobe and the makeup and the hair and the coloring. It’s a salon and atelier. We meet up there before the Met Ball or a movie premiere. You can fit my apartment in her glam room,” he says. “It’s a nice headquarters.”

Ummm, yes, we imagine so. But Sir John says it’s not all that important. “To be honest, I’ve done makeup everywhere,” he says. “I’ve done makeup in an SUV and leaning back to give a celebrity a full face. The place doesn’t matter as much anymore. To me it’s work.”

Plus, when you’re as famous as Beyoncé or Kendall or Rihanna or Mariah Carey, can you really imagine going to your corner nail salon to get a pedicure? The paparazzi would go berserk.

“The luxury of being a world-class performer or the most photographed woman in the world is that you have people come into your home,” Sir John says. “That’s the luxury.” Amen.
