Target hours New Year's Eve 2024: Here's when stores open and close on Dec. 31

The new year begins this week, which for millions of Americans means bringing in 2025 with friends and family.

Most grocery, retail and restaurant chains will remain open on New Year's Eve, albeit with adjusted hours, and some will shut their doors on New Year's Day.

If you need to make a last-minute run to the store to pick up some snacks or decorations for your New Year's Eve party, Target will be an option for you this year, as the company told USA TODAY their stores will be open on Dec. 31 and will shut their doors at 9 p.m. local time. Stores will also be open regular hours on Jan. 1.

What grocery stores are open on New Year's Eve?

In addition to Target, the following grocery stores will be open on New Year's Eve. Hours are listed for the companies that provided them.

  • Aldi

  • Costco; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Food Lion

  • Harris Teeter

  • Kroger family of stores

    • The Kroger family of stores includes: Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick’n Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler, Smith’s Food and Drug.

  • Meijer; 6 a.m. to midnight

  • Publix; Stores will close at 7 p.m.

  • Sam's Club; Stores will close at 6 p.m.

  • Trader Joe's; Stores will close at 5 p.m.

  • Walmart

  • Wegmans; Stores will close at 8 p.m.

  • Whole Foods; 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
