Taylor Swift Gives a Subtle Status Update on Her and Joe Alwyn
Taylor Swift has spent the last two weeks very much in the public eye. She attended the Time 100 Gala with friends; she went to Gigi Hadid's birthday party; she released a new single "ME!" and has been on social media promoting it everyday.
Her brother Austin Swift and friends Abigail Anderson Lucier and Martha Hunt have been photographed with her for some of her big moments. But her boyfriend Joe Alwyn hasn't been seen. That's not because anything is different between them though, as Swift subtly made clear on Instagram yesterday.
Alwyn posted an Instagram of himself sitting at a castle-like place (suggesting he's probably not in New York City or Nashville, where Swift was this past week). It's his first post since the end of February. Swift immediately liked it.

Yes, it's just an Instagram like, but this IS also Taylor Swift, a girl who plays the long game and is strategic with every single social media interaction she has. So for anyone remotely worried about them, they're fiiiiine. Swift has liked basically every single one of Alwyn's rare Instagram snaps too, so this is just their normal.
There is a chance the two could make things red carpet official in the next week. The Met Gala is next Monday, and Swift will be attending and performing at the Billboard Music Awards this Wednesday.
Swift has not been confirmed to attend the Met Gala, although it's been hinted she will go (and it is a prestigious red carpet for celebrity couples to make their debuts). Page Six spoke with J. Mendel's creative director, Gilles Mendel, and asked him if she'd go this year in one of his designs. Swift wore J. Mendel to the Time 100 Gala and has worn the house twice to the Met Gala. He didn't rule out the possibility.
“Unfortunately, it’s so hard to give you an answer, because we never know until the very last minute,” Mendel said with a laugh. “And it’s maybe bad luck to say, because you never know!”
Alwyn has never done a red carpet with her, but he has attended some of her performances in a show of support (during her Reputation tour and when she did a surprise show in New York City). She, meanwhile, has been at some of his premieres' after parties to support him, along with the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, BAFTA Awards' after party, and Golden Globes' after parties.
