Tea for Two Tuesday is March 18, so celebrate with someone special

Tea for Two Tuesday, celebrated annually on the third Tuesday in March, is a delightful occasion dedicated to sharing a cup of tea with someone special. This year, it falls on March 18, 2025, offering a perfect opportunity to pause, connect, and savor the simple pleasure of tea.

Tea has long been a symbol of camaraderie across various cultures – from traditional Japanese tea ceremonies to British afternoon tea – and this holiday seeks to reinforce what those long-standing traditions have always meant: That the act of drinking tea together creates camaraderie, bonds, and memories.

This holiday was first established in 2016 by tea enthusiasts, and was created to encourage people to enjoy tea together. What better way to foster friendship and relaxation than to share a little tea with others? (We’re talking about the drink; whether you share additional ‘tea’ – as in the gossip kind – is up to you and the friend you choose to share with!)

Here are some ways you can make the most of Tea for Two Tuesday:

  • Host a tea party. Invite over friends and family for a tea party (it’s OK if it’s more than just two people). Invite them to bring their favorite varieties, and serve them alongside a variety of scones, cakes, muffins, biscuits, and finger sandwiches to create a cozy atmosphere. (If you do this, can we come?)

  • Find a new favorite variety. Use this day as an opportunity to try different types of tea. With around 1,500 known varieties, there's always something new to discover

  • Learn tea etiquette: Delve into the art of tea ceremonies from different cultures. Understanding the rituals and etiquettes can enhance your appreciation of this timeless beverage.

  • Have a virtual tea date. If distance separates you from loved ones, set up a virtual tea session. Brew your favorite teas and connect over a video call to share the experience.

Tea for Two Tuesday is more than just a day to enjoy a simple cup of tea; it's an invitation to connect, relax, and appreciate the simple joys of life. Whether you're a lifetime tea lover or a first-time sipper, March 18 is the day to share a cup of tea and create lasting memories.
