There's Only One Way to Order Costco Pizza Ahead of Time

Costco shoppers know that no visit to the warehouse is complete without a trip to the food court. While a hot dog combo or a warm chocolate chip cookie is always a solid choice, sometimes only pizza will do.
A slice of Costco pizza, at $1.99, is a great idea, especially if you're going to dine in before leaving the store. But if you're feeding a family (or a teenager) and want to take home a whole pie, you can't beat a whole Costco pizza. The 18-inch oversize pizza costs $9.99, and is a better value than just about any takeout option.
Like many things at Costco, the ordering system can cause confusion. There is no option to order online. Here's what you need to know.
How to order a Costco pizza in store
If you want to order a pizza in store, simply proceed to the kiosk near the food court, select a "whole pizza" on the screen. Your options are cheese, pepperoni, and half cheese/half pepperoni. Follow the instructions and pay with a credit card. (Remember, Costco does not accept American Express, Discover, or Mastercard.)
You'll get a notification that wait times may vary. An employee behind the register will call out the number displayed on your receipt when the pizza is ready for pickup. I typically order on the kiosk then do my regular shopping, and the pizza will be waiting when I'm finished.
How to order a Costco pizza ahead of time
If you're in a hurry or not planning a full shopping trip, you'll want to order your pizza in advance. There is only one option: Call the store. The food court will have a different phone number from the main store line, so you don't have to worry about navigating through the customer service menu (yay!). To find the number, go to the store locator on the Costco website. Under "Warehouse Services," select "Food Court," and the phone number will be listed below.
You'll also find the phone number prominently posted on signs near the food court. I took a photo of the sign at my store so I could save it in my phone for later. When you arrive at the store, head to the kiosk to pay. When you select "Whole Pizza," you'll be asked if you placed the order by phone. Select "Yes," complete the transaction, and then go to the counter to pick up your food.
How to pay for a Costco pizza in cash
Costco employees will encourage you to pay at the kiosk, but that is a credit card-only option. If you're paying in cash, you'll need to go to the food court counter and order and pay at the register. If you called in your order, you can head to the counter to pay for it in cash, rather than using the kiosk.
