Working from home can be a challenge, especially if you’re used to the relative peace and quiet of being at an office most days. I’ve found that one of the best ways to filter out the noise of home life and stay focused while working has been to slip on a pair of headphones, play some coffee shop background noise and get on with my day.
If you’re on the hunt for a set of headphones that’s effective at noise-cancelling, but are not willing to spend hundreds of dollars for name brand devices, there are some great options available. One of them is currently on sale for 20 per cent off, bringing the total cost down to just $40.
Anker Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds
SHOP IT: Amazon, $40 (originally $50)
What is it?
The Anker Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds are currently on sale on Amazon. Ideal for working from home, a single charge offers seven full hours of listening, so you’ll never have to worry about being disconnected from video calls online.
Each earbud is equipped with two microphones that feature noise reduction and cVc 8.0 technology, which helps to cut down on background noise while enhancing speaking. You can also say goodbye to finicky pairing, since Push and Go technology automatically connects to the most recently-used device as soon as the earbuds are removed from their case.
Even if you aren’t planning on using these headphones for office use, their waterproof design and adjustable tips make them a great choice for working out.
What shoppers are saying
Thanks to their superior battery life and sound quality, these headphones have earned a 4.1-star rating on more than 4,000 customer reviews.
"I've only had them for a couple of weeks, but for the price- wow! I'm very impressed so far. I've had expensive Bluetooth headsets for taking calls on my phone but they were big and bulky and the fit was never what I had hoped for," wrote an Amazon shopper. "These little beasts fit well and sound great when listening to music and sound great for the person on the other end of a call. The only negative I would have is the physical button and the ease at which I can hang up on callers when I am adjusting the earpiece, but for the price, I'm loving these. If you are a 'true' audiophile I'm sure you would rather have a set that costs hundreds of dollars, but these aren't for you. These are good earbuds for a great price; big bang for a small price."
“I've been using these for about a week and I have to say I am impressed,” added another. “I use them primarily on a treadmill and the noise cancellation is great. The battery life has been great and I've never had them go dead on me. I charge them every few days and have no issues.”
Since these headphones can be paired with a single ear at a time, some reviewers have noted that it can cause some connectivity issues when switching from one ear to two. Luckily this can easily be remedied by putting them on in the correct order.

“Decent basic set, better than average battery life, but you get exactly what you paid for, no more, no less,” reads one review. “Pairing was easy once I figured out you have to pull the left one out of the case first, otherwise the right one will pair on its own. My fault for not looking closely enough at the diagram in the directions.”
The verdict
While sound aficionados may want to pass on these budget-friendly headphones, they’re a solid choice if you’re looking for a pair of true wireless earbuds. They may not offer top of the line sound quality (some reviewers knocked off points for lighter bass tones) but they certainly fit the bill for the average personal uses.
Whether you plan on using them for your commute, the gym or your home office, they offer good quality sound at an affordable price point, especially when they’re on sale for just $40.
