This fall has been a weird one. Most of the country has experienced warmer-than-average temperatures, which may lead some to believe that winter, in fact, may not be coming at all. Fortunately/unfortunately, the warm weather is not predicted to last. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, "big freezes and heavy snowfall" are in the cards for the central provinces with "heart of cold" temperatures to boot.

With snow in the forecast for parts of Canada, keeping a snowblower or thrower on hand is never a bad idea. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option, Amazon shoppers say the Snow Joe Electric Snow Blower "moves snow amazingly well," and right now, it's on sale for Black Friday.

While snowblowers often get all the attention, a snow thrower is similar — and usually more affordable. A snow thrower is a single-stage machine, meaning it uses a rotating auger to pick up snow and cast it out of the shoot in one continuous motion.

A snow blower, on the other hand, works in two stages. Similar to a snow thrower, it uses a rotating auger to scoop up snow, but rather than immediately shooting it out, it feeds the snow into an impeller (a powerful fan) which blows it out of the chute.

This Snow Joe snow thrower makes it easy to clear snow from your driveway, sidewalk or patio. It's able to clear an 18-inch path in snow up to eight inches deep and can remove up to 550 lbs. of snow per minute.

It features a 13 amp electric motor as an alternative to gas-powered snow throwers and has 180-degree directional throwing capabilities to ensure that snow falls exactly where you want it to.

One reviewer found this snow thrower "works perfectly for Canada snowfalls" — and even tackles "heavy, wet" snow.
