To the newcomers of the online mattress world, buying a mattress despite never having tested it can, understandably, stir some hesitation. Will it be comfortable? Do the reviews ring true? What if I don't like it?

There's also the consideration of price. While there's a bevy of online mattress companies to choose from, the average cost of a top-rated mattress can fall anywhere between $500 and $2,300.

However, price doesn't always equate to comfort. This Amazon mattress, for example, starts at just $250 and has earned an average rating of 4.8 stars.

"We bought it for my daughter, who is 7 [...and] my husband and I are now considering buying ourselves one because it is THAT comfortable and we are PICKY mattress people!"

"I'm very pleased with this mattress. The bottom layer is thick and structured enough that I don't feel any need for a boxspring (on slats)," writes another user. "But there's a plush top layer that's thin enough I don't get engulfed, but thick enough that it's sooo comfortable. Definitely the most comfortable mattress in the house."
