Trader Joe’s Most Unhinged Product Yet Is Dividing the Internet
We’re still trying to wrap our heads around it.
Trader Joes
We’re not telling you anything new when we say Trader Joe’s knows how to grab our attention. Whether it's the ever-popular Unexpected Cheddar Cheese, everyone's obsession with its seasonal Danish Kringle, or my personal favorite Horseradish and Chives Potato Chips, Trader Joe's sometimes feels like a bottomless pit of delicious and creative snacks and meals. And now, the store's newest dip, which is inspired by an iconic salad is taking the refrigerator aisle by storm.
Trader Joe’s Caesar Salad Dip
The latest product that has Trader Joe’s shoppers running to their nearest location is a Caesar salad-inspired dip. According to Trader Joe's, this dip leverages sour cream and mayo for the ultimate creamy factor, in addition to the classic bold ingredients found in a Caesar salad, like Parmesan cheese, anchovy paste, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and shredded romaine lettuce. Yes, you read that correctly. This dip takes the Caesar salad quite literally with ribbons of fresh romaine strewn throughout.
We know what you're thinking. Won't the lettuce get soggy? We weren’t the only ones wondering about the unique addition to the dip. "I love Caesar salad but this dip tastes like soggy old romaine lettuce," a disappointed customer commented on the Trader Joe's Instagram post. "The nasty lettuce taste overpowers everything else. Will not buy again."
Countless others also expressed their skepticism on the Trader Joe's subreddit, and interestingly enough, someone else admitted, "I just bought this dip today and I think it's DELICIOUS! Lol the lettuce mixed in is basically just like the spinach you see in other dips." This got us thinking about Spinach Dip, a tried and true crowd-pleaser that appears on dining tables at football viewing parties, board game nights, charcuterie boards, and so much more. Could this be that different?
Sure, some fans raised their eyebrows at the new dip, but there were also plenty of people who absolutely loved it. One commenter on Instagram even went so far as to call it the "best thing ever" at Trader Joe's and that's saying something.
What are some things you can do with this dip? Dunk chips, crackers, fresh veggies, or pretzels into it or use it as a spread on sandwiches or wraps. With so many chances for dipping coming up, like the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day, you may want a tub or two of this in your fridge to open and get right to snacking!
