Unlike most of the parks featured in Iconic Eats, Sesame Place is designed for children ages three to 10. But that doesn't mean only toddlers and preschoolers can have a good time here. There's local beer, wine, and hard seltzer, plus meals made for a more mature palate, like extra-spicy buffalo mac & cheese and empanadas.

Before we go into our selections, we have to give you the low-down on a fan favorite experience: Dine with Elmo and Friends. At $44.99 for adults and $29.99 for kids, it's without a doubt the best way to start your trip. Admission includes individualized meeting time with each of the characters and a bottomless brunch that has something for everyone: fresh fruit, lox, bagels, bread pudding, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and an entire table filled with desserts.

Upon arrival, Dine with Elmo and Friends guests pick a table and then load up on food buffet-style. Once everyone is settled, the show begins with Sesame Street characters popping out to top 40 songs that have been remixed to be Sesame-approved. Characters stop at each table to wave, hug, and talk to guests, giving ample time to each person. The individualized attention along with the interactive dance parties make this the best experience in the park.

As for the food at Sesame Place in general, a new executive chef revamped the park's menu, and Delish got an exclusive preview. Spoiler alert: It did not disappoint. Here are the top six menu items for you to consider the next time you visit.

Best Meal: The Big Burger, $19.99

This is the most expensive menu item, but it's also the best meal in the park. At Big Bird's Burger and Bites, each burger patty gets two thick slices of American cheese melted on top, then fried red onions and honey BBQ sauce is drizzled on top. If you're going to do it big, get the big burger.

Runner Up: Buffalo Mac & Cheese, $12.99

This amazing dish is most likely only for adults due to its heat levels. The spicy house-made buffalo sauce will clear your sinuses and the big chunks of blue cheese will attempt to cool you down. The portion size is right on the target for the price and will hit your buffalo craving.

Best Kid's Meal: Homestyle Chicken Tenders, $9.99

Fun fact: All kids' meals at Sesame Place are $9.99 and come with an adorable souvenir cup. The extra crispy chicken tenders are made from fresh chicken breast. Picky eaters will love these, so it's no secret why they're a fan favorite at the park.

Best Dessert: Character Cupcakes, $6.99

No matter which character you choose, you're going to get a super-moist, soft, vanilla cupcake. Many cupcakes that have a mountain of frosting use a thick buttercream that sticks to the roof of your mouth. But Sesame Place's frosting is whipped and airy and melts immediately when you take a bite.

Best Budget Item: Empanadas, $9.99

Sesame Place partnered with Empanada Guy, a popular Philly food truck, to offer these golden, cheesy delights. You can choose from chicken, beef, or cheese empanadas for your pairing. The cheese empanada is like a massive mozzarella stick with a thicker exterior. And the chicken empanada is well-seasoned with cumin and paprika—we were impressed.

Best for Sharing: Loaded Kettle Chips, $16.99

Smoky pulled pork, melty cheddar cheese, salsa, ranch, and barbecue sauce are piled high on thick-cut house-made kettle chips. Each bite is balanced with zesty and creamy sauces, making it nearly impossible to share—but we promise there's more than enough to go around.
