"I Truly Had No Idea": Men Are Sharing 20 Things That Made Them Go 'Wait, What?' About Women
If you're a man who has never been in a relationship with a woman, there are probably some things about the female species that you'd find completely shocking. Well, Redditor Past-Ad5731 asked, "What did you only find out about women when you got a girlfriend?" Here are the things men discovered only after being in a serious relationship with a woman.
."Skincare is complicated. I was a 'put some water on my face in the morning' kind of guy. Now she’s got me using sunscreen, moisturizer, hair masks and cleanser. I’m radiant."
."Most of the time, women have already planned what we will do on a given day. I just don’t know it yet."
."You don't have to give her suggestions and solutions to her problems. She just wants to rant."
."My boyfriend didn't know how tampons worked. I filled a glass with water and explained to him how to use the applicator. When it dropped into the water and expanded, his jaw dropped."
."How much girls value little gestures and the intent behind doing them. For example, my girlfriend would be sleeping, and I would get up to fix the curtains to make sure no sunlight could get to her face. Or I'd get a little sweet treat for her after I return from work. These little gestures make her day. But one thing that I am realizing only now is the importance of the intent behind these gestures. Did I do something because I had to? Or did I do something because I truly love and adore my lovely girlfriend? This makes the world of a difference for her."
."Their love of the true crime genre. Podcasts, documentaries, and sometimes even the police scanner! Mostly, I don't think twice about it, but I do occasionally get nervous about my wife's love of murder details."
."The time leading up to a woman having her period can sometimes be worse than the days of her actual period."
."Period pads are stuck to the underwear, not to the body."
."Her random thought immediately becomes a task you must perform. Like, right now or within a definite time frame. Just because it was random doesn't mean it will ever be forgotten, either. It's on your list now."
."I need to stop cheating on her in her dreams."
."My boyfriend said the main thing he noticed was how soft I was compared to him. He was baffled, and I didn't know there was such a big difference, either."
."Camera. Fucking. Angles. God knows how many times I had to retake the picture."
."Bras are far more expensive than I realized."
."The fact that they take showers with boiling water. I'll occasionally try to be a little spontaneous with my wife and sneak in the shower with her. First, I must locate the shower because I can't see a foot in front of me due to all the steam. When I finally step in, I must use her as a human shield until she turns the temperature down."
."How expensive it is to look like you’re not wearing any makeup."
.If they have long hair, they leave hair pins EVERYWHERE. I was still finding them two years after a breakup. In fact, I just found one stuck to the bottom of my laptop. There hasn’t been a woman living here in six years!"
."How much toilet paper they go through. In university, I lived in a house with five women. They went through toilet paper so fast that I thought they were ritualistically lighting it on fire."
."I learned that 'hangry” is a very real feeling."
."I found out that there’s a difference between pantyhose, tights, and stockings. I had no idea that there was a difference. I thought there were three different names for the same thing."
."Women have to deal with a lot of pain in their day-to-day lives. Menstrual cycles, big boobs hurting their back, ear piercings, clothes that hurt to wear, feet getting tired from heels, mammograms, IUD insertion, doctors not listening to women’s pain symptoms. It's all taught me to sympathize with how much pain women have to go through in their everyday existence."
