We visited one of Biloxi’s best-reviewed bakeries. Is it really as good as everyone says?

If there has been one positive discovery I’ve made since becoming a semi-functional adult, it’s been the world of pastries.

They’re amazing. And I think we should continue gatekeeping fruit tarts and franzipans from children. Pastries are a pleasure that should be reserved for the mature, right there with laying down an abhorrently disgusting seven-leg parlay on the US Open.

We have several excellent bakeries here on the Mississippi Coast, but I had not written a review for one. Until now.

Zoë’s Bakery and Coffee Shop opened in 2023 at 2572 Pass Road in Biloxi and has been drawing strong praise ever since. So I crossed the Debuys and made my way in to check the hype for myself.

The first thing you notice is the neatly set up outdoor patio. Tables with umbrellas are set up between the white brick building and garden boxes.

The next thing you notice once you walk in are the pastries. They’re massive. You won’t be served small portions here. The room is bright and filled with Kesha’s musings and Brittney’s confessions.

On this day I went basic. But I have good reasoning. I ordered the chocolate croissant. I did this because I once spent two weeks learning French and all I remember how to say is croissant.

I also got a cinnamon roll. This is one of the few pastries that the kids get to enjoy and it was one of my favorites growing up.

The croissant was massive. I must reiterate, you will not get small portions. You know that chocolate croissant you get at Starbucks? That may as well be a croissant for ants compared to this thing. I enjoyed it.

The cinnamon roll was perfect, as well. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the employee behind the counter did an excellent job of finding the right drink for me: a caramel and vanilla frappe with whip topping.

There are all kinds of goodies here: shortcake, cheesecake, regular cake. Mousse, eclairs and tarts. Various fritters and baked pies. They have gluten free options, as well.

On the drinks board, there’s espresso, brews and teas. There’s a few dozen flavors that can be added to any drink, including butter rum, maple, brown sugar cinnamon and toasted marshmallow.

Zoe’s is open every day of the week, too. Their hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
