Watch Whoopi Goldberg Quickly Shut Down Intense Adam Levine "Cheating" Discussion

Whoopi Goldberg doesn't want to partake in the ongoing controversy surrounding Adam Levine.

In case you've been missing all of the headlines around the Maroon 5 singer, social media personality Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok on September 19 alleging that she had a year-long affair with Adam. In the video, she shared screenshots of private conversations between her and the former Voice coach over Instagram. Sumner claimed that she believed that Adam and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, were separated at the time. She decided to come forward after a friend tried to sell the screenshots to the press, according to the clip.

Since then, Sumner’s TikTok has amassed more than 23 million views — and The View cast is among those who've watched it. When a splice of the viral video was played during the September 21 taping of the daytime TV show, Whoopi appeared speechless. Though she wanted to quickly move on from the topic, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin were ready to give their two cents. But it wasn’t easy.

As Joy thought about the subject out loud and Sunny pondered what the real intention of the video was, Whoopi quickly tried to shut the conversation down. “I don’t know, that’s why I don’t even want to talk about it,” she said on air. “I don’t even want to talk about it. I don’t know who [Sumner Stroh] is. I don’t why we got to talk about this chick and bring all his business in there, you know?”

Whoopi’s words received loud applause from the live audience in the studio before she continued: “Call him. Why do we have to participate? Why is The View participating? That’s what I want to know.”

Still, the rest of The View cast went around the table and shared their thoughts. Alyssa tried to understand why Adam would reach out to an online influencer while Sara wondered why it was put in writing. Sunny believed it was a form of emotional cheating though she didn't think it was so black and white. Meanwhile, Joy spoke on monogamy in the modern age.

Adam and Behati met when he was working on a music video in 2012. She heard about the then-Victoria's Secret model from word of mouth. While the two didn’t end up working together, their back-and-forth emailing continued until they eventually met up. By July 2013, the couple was engaged and the following summer, they got married. Today, Adam and Behati have two daughters: Dusty Rose and Gio Grace. Most recently, they announced they’re expecting a third child together.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Adam addressed the affair allegations. "A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air,” he wrote. “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life."

He continued: "In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family. My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together."
