All The Work That Went Into Zendaya's Impeccable Curly Bob
Zendaya’s no stranger to channelling retro, old Hollywood hair on the red carpet, and if last night’s 2025 Golden Globes is any indication, the Dune star is about to embark on another year of showstopping beauty moments.

For her first award ceremony of the season, Zendaya – who’s nominated in the Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category for her performance in Challengers - stepped out as a vision in sunset tones. To complement her dramatic burnt orange Louis Vuitton ballgown, she wore her hair in a modern interpretation of a classic, ultra-glamorous curly bob hairstyle by hairstylist Coree Moreno.
Sharing the look on his Instagram, Moreno described the look as ‘Hollywood glamour wave but make it 2025.’ He relied on plenty of mousse and hair rollers. ‘Taking it back to basics with an actually wet set using purple and gold rollers and @nexxushaircare medium hold volume mousse,' explained Moreno of his process. 'Rolling everything on base and bricklaying every roller with the exception of the Mohawk section. This mousse gave us hold, shine and enough powdery-grit to pin a faux bob,’ he wrote on the post.
It doesn’t stop there. To add polish, Moreno finessed the roots and hairline with GHD round brush and hairdryer. ‘After [the] roller set has cooled, grabbing the root of each roller section with the round brush, tap just the roots of all four sides of the section, never disrupting the ends. After doing this throughout, wrap and shape waves with a boar bristle brush. In addition, a one-inch iron was used to further refine the wave pattern.’
Considering the importance of the event and how dramatic Zendaya’s ensemble is (styled by longtime collaborator and image architect, Law Roach), we appreciate just how much work went into creating her hair and beauty look. Extra hair clip-ins in shades of chestnut and chocolate brought russet tones to Zendaya’s dark hair and reflected the colour of her dress for a look that’s perfectly considered from head-to-toe.
The colour story carries into her make-up, too. Make-up artist Ernesto Casillas opted for peachy pink tones on the cheeks and a rosy neutral lip to tie the whole look together. This isn't the first time Zendaya's embodied that old Hollywood magic. She has previously served a high-glamour bob for the SAG awards in 2023 and sported a dressy vintage ponytail for the 2022 Emmys, complete with a black bow. Looks like 2025 is off to a phenomenal start.
