Who will win Macon’s best burger? Everything you need to know about Macon Burger Week 2024

Liliana’s served a burger called The Gusto Italiano Burger for Macon Burger Week 2023. Burger Week will return this year from Nov. 1-9.

More than 20 local eateries are participating in this year’s Macon Burger Week for a chance to be named the People’s Choice Champion.

The contest, which will take place from Nov. 1-9, promises to offer innovative specialty burgers for $10 each. As attendees try the selection, they will vote on their favorite to be awarded the People’s Choice Champion.

Two other awards will be given out as well. The Cleverly Created Award goes to the restaurant with the most unique entry, as judged by a cattle industry professional. The Most Beef Sales Award goes to the restaurant that sells the most beef by pound.

Grey Goose Players Club won the People’s Choice Award last year with the Hot Shot, an 8-ounce CAB burger with habanero bacon jam, pimento cheese and topped with a fried green tomato.

Here’s what to know before you indulge in nine days of burger heaven.

What burgers has Macon cooked up this year?

Twenty-six restaurants are competing this year, each with their own unique creation. Among the contenders:

  • Kudzu Seafood Company is bringing the Crawdaddy, a ground beef and crawfish burger with remoulade sauce, lobster cheese sauce, Cajun pico and fried crawfish tails

  • Ocmulgee Brewpub created the Slow Jam Burger, a beef patty with bacon, onions, jam, cheddar cheese and fried jalapenos

  • The Library Tap House and Kitchen is offering the Little Havana, a short-rib brisket patty with sweet honey ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, fried pickle spears and spicy mustard on a toasted bun

How to participate

Diners coming out for Macon Burger Week do not need to book tickets or register. Simply visit participating restaurants during Burger Week and order their specialty burger.

All specialty burgers will be available for $10 for Burger Week only. Restaurants may also offer specialty side items, which diners are encouraged to try as well.

Participants may go online and download the Macon Burger Week passport. The passport offers a handy guide to every restaurant participating in Burger Week, and diners can get a stamp at each place they eat at. If you have five stamps or more in your passport at the end of the week, you can send in the stamped passport for a chance to win prizes from the Georgia Beef Board, which organizes Burger Week.

While reservations are not required, Burger Week organizers warn that traffic is much higher at participating restaurants and burgers sometimes sell out. If there’s a burger you’re really itching to try, making a reservation may not be a bad idea.
