‘You’re fat and you have no pride’: Pizza delivery man shames Ontario woman with harsh texts

Ah yes, a late night pizza. The best way to reward yourself after a long, stressful day.

Last week, a Thornhill, Ont. woman Nadisha Mendes and her sister decided to do just that. They ordered a pizza from Pizza Pizza just before midnight.

After a 45-minute wait, the pizza still hadn’t arrived, so Mendes called the pizza chain to check in. Since Pizza Pizza has a 40-minutes-or-it’s-free guarantee, the customer service rep told her the pizza was no charge.

While she was still on the phone with customer service, the delivery guy showed up. Mendes passed him the phone so the rep could tell him the pizza would be free.

“I am used to our deliveries coming fast. I wanted to call Customer Service just to confirm that my order went through.” she told the Toronto Star. Within five minutes of the phone call, around 12:41 a.m., she received a knock at the door from the delivery man. “I put him on the phone with customer service, who had told him the pizza would be free.”

The delivery guy left, and the sisters began to eat their pizza. According to Mendes, about half an hour later, her sister started to get texts from a random number.

“It was horrible, I felt that I was being attacked,” Mendes told The Star. “It wasn’t about the money, I would’ve paid for it, but this is a breach of trust.”

According to The Star, Mendes spent days trying to get in touch with Pizza Pizza to no avail – she was even hung up on by someone claiming to be a district sales manager. However, on Thursday, she was finally contacted by the real district sales manager who told her the delivery man was a new hire who didn’t understand protocol. She was also notified the delivery man wan was fired immediately.

But she still doesn’t feel safe.

“I know this sounds weird, but I’ve given all my information, and if the delivery guy was able to send those texts after a free pizza, what else could he do?”
