Zendaya pays tribute to Cher in a vintage gold naked dress
Zendaya brought a dose of megawatt glamour to Cleveland, Ohio, this weekend, while attending the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
It's no secret that the actress loves a bit of method-dressing, and she walked the red carpet at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in a golden naked dress that paid perfect homage to Cher, whom Zendaya had the immense honour of inducting into the hall of fame.
“Where do I even begin? Cher is not one person,” Zendaya said. “Her name is just as legendary as her legacy.”
For the occasion, Zendaya chose to wear a vintage Bob Mackie design from the couture 2001 collection, 'Foreign Intrigue', which very closely resembled a gold gown that Cher wore in 1972, also created by the designer. Mackie was responsible for some of the music icon’s most famous looks, many of which are currently being displayed in an exhibit at the hall of fame.
Zendaya’s dress had a twisted halterneck and a completely open bodice, broken up by golden straps that crisscrossed across her abdomen and morphed into a low-rise skirt, forming a diamond on her navel. It draped down to the carpet and featured a super-high slit up the centre. The entire dress was a sheer golden hue, covered in Art Deco-esque lines, and was entirely hand-encrusted with small glittering bugle beads and crystals.
Styled by Law Roach, Zendaya wore the striking gown with a snow white silk trench coat, also by Bob Mackie. It had a sharp, dramatic collar and shimmery golden accents to match the dress.
The Euphoria star finished the look with pointed gold heels, rosy-hued make-up, and slicked-back hair.
