Zendaya’s Plunging Neck Emmys Gown Was The Reprieve We Needed
And it was created by one of the biggest designers of the year, Christopher John Rogers.
Despite the absence of a red carpet at this year's Emmy Awards, Zendaya still managed to create a memorable fashion moment without leaving home. The Euphoria star — who was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Rue Bennett in the hit HBO series — outdid herself opting for a black and purple gown designed by CFDA Emerging Designer winner, Christopher John Rogers. The actress was styled by Law Roach and her look also included Louboutin heels and Bulgari jewels.

Last year, the actress wasn't eligible for an Emmy award due to the timing of Euphoria's debut, so when landing her first nomination in 2020, she was appropriately overjoyed by the news. "I'm honestly speechless," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "My heart is just overflowing with love and gratitude. I'm so incredibly honored to work beside the talented people that I get to call family. I am a small piece of a big beautiful puzzle and I'm so proud of all of you."

Prior to the show becoming a huge success, Zendaya revealed that she was worried about shedding her Disney Channel star persona. "I was really nervous because I wanted to do well," she told The New York Times back in June 2019. "It’s like going from nothing to everything — there were no steps in between. That’s why people think it’s such a stretch for me to play this character. There’s a lot of people who probably think I can’t do it because they don’t truly understand my personality. And I get it: I’m a Disney kid. There’s a lot to prove."
She continued, "Sam [Levinson, Euphoria's creator and showrunner] told me I was on a mood board he made for Rue, and I didn’t believe him because I felt like there’s no way he’s seen anything that I’ve done. He took a risk on me, but he doesn’t see it that way. He would always say, 'Yo, Z, I’m not worried about you.' I appreciate that."
