4 unofficial royal rules Meghan Markle broke in one day (and why that’s OK)

Meghan Markle took in a wheelchair tennis match with her boyfriend Prince Harry at the Invictus Games earlier this week in Toronto — but in doing so, reportedly broke a few (unwritten) royal rules. For one, unless a senior member of the royal family is married or engaged, he/she will typically go solo at an official public event (apart from, say, a grad ceremony or an occasional playful polo match) — so Meghan essentially broke tradition by making a public appearance with Harry at an official event!

As it stands, Harry and Meghan may be making their own rules — and that might not be so bad.

“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been so open about the fact that they are dating, and have spoken about their relationship in this way,” said royal historian Carolyn Harris in an interview with Global News. “(They) are conducting this relationship on their own terms.”
