Total Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray

  • 3

    large eggs

  • 2 c.

    heavy cream

  • 1 c.

    whole milk

  • 1/2 c.

    (100 g.) granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp.

    ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp.

    pure vanilla extract

  • 10

apple-cider doughnuts, preferably 1 to 2 days old, cut into 1" pieces

  • 1/2 c.

    firmly packed light brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp.

    powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F, with a rack in the middle. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.

  2. Whisk eggs, cream, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a large bowl.

  3. Scatter doughnut pieces in prepared baking dish. Pour custard mixture over them, pressing doughnuts down so they soak up the custard. Let sit for 15 minutes, or until doughnuts absorb custard.

  4. Sprinkle top with brown sugar, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and continue to bake for about 15 minutes, or until top is golden brown and the filling is set. Remove from oven and let cool, about 10 minutes.

  5. Top with powdered sugar and serve warm.
