Blake Lively Apologizes for Jokes About Kate Middleton’s ‘Photoshop Fails’
On Friday, Kate Middleton shared a video in which she explained she was receiving treatment for cancer after several weeks of speculation around her disappearance from public life. In response, Blake Lively posted an apology on her Instagram Stories for joking about the Princess of Wales's “Photoshop fails” when Kensington Palace released a doctored image of Kate and her three children on the U.K.'s Mother's Day.
“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this,” wrote Lively. “I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always.”
The post Lively was referring to has been deleted, but they were promotional photos for her Betty Buzz and Betty Booze line with obvious Photoshop changes edited in to play off the trending topic.
“I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products! Now you know why I’ve been MIA,” the caption read.
Early this year, it was announced that Kate was having a scheduled abdominal surgery in January and that she would make appearances again after Easter. The Photoshopped image caused fans and followers to question if she was all right.
The Princess took the blame for the photo, claiming she had been experimenting with her editing skills. And then she shared that during her surgery, it was discovered she needed treatment for cancer and is undergoing “a course of preventative chemotherapy.”
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful," she said in her video.
