The concerned woman turned to Reddit’s lively “Wedding Planning” forum on Feb. 6 to express her dismay at some of her wedding guests already “joking about ordering KFC” chicken to the venue.
“Sighhhh,” she began her post, which was later updated with the food list.
“So glad we're spending £5K [almost $6,200] on food for you lot 🫠,” she said sarcastically, before adding, “We’ve tasted the food and it’s all lovely. I’m hoping people arrive and are pleasantly surprised.”
The woman noted that a family member told her that the “majority of guests will not be excited about your food choices because it’s not meat."

Children will have the option to eat “chicken dippers” with vegetables, while adults will all be consuming a three-course vegetarian meal.
For the starter, guests will be served “Thai salad creamy mushrooms on ciabatta" as well as "spring rolls" and a "caramelized onion and goats cheese tart.”
As for the main dish, the bride said she chose “mushroom risotto roasted veg parcel with pesto salad tofu on wild rice” followed by dessert options of “cheesecake/brownies/sweets/etc.”

Unprompted, Redditors swiftly weighed in on potential food fiasco, with people leaving nearly 400 comments on the post within four days.
“People are just so rude,” one person wrote. “I’m not a vegetarian, but I regularly eat ‘accidentally vegetarian’ meals (cheese pizza, salads, pasta). I don’t understand why not having meat with a single meal is such a travesty. They need to calm down. And KFC? Seriously? That’s just gross.”
Some commenters also shared their experiences from their weddings.
“I had a vegetarian wedding and so many family members on my now ex husband’s side threw massive fits before AND during — yet still ate the food because it was genuinely good,” one bride revealed. “They just couldn’t fathom not having meat with every single meal.”
Another Redditor surmised that maybe guests just want pricey food.
“I wonder if it’s because it’s a wedding they expect to get like expensive cuts of meat,” the person pondered. “They don‘t want to spend the money at home for it, they want someone else to pay for their steak and lobster.”
