This bride's wedding bouquet almost killed her -- but she didn't miss her 'I dos'

The perfect cake, a beautiful dress and all of your closest friends and family — your wedding day is supposed to be the most perfect day of celebration and love.

But for one bride, her bouquet, sourced from her own garden, almost ruined one of the best days of her life.

She had her dress, her something blue and – the night before the wedding – her bouquet. After picking her favourite florals from her garden, Christine Jo Miller’s bridesmaids stayed up late organizing their bouquets. It wasn’t until the next morning that she realized something was wrong. After washing her face, she noticed her eyes were swelling. Miller had an allergic reaction to the snow-on-the-mountains flower just before preparing to say “I do.”

“I thought I was dying at that point,” Miller told Inside Edition. “I was the scariest-looking person at my wedding.”

Moments after exchanging their vows, Miller was whisked away to the emergency room – still in her wedding dress.

Once in the emergency room, Miller received pain medication and a steroid shot to assist with the swelling. Rather than head home to rest, the couple didn’t want to miss their own reception and went back to the celebration, after a quick outfit change. Despite arriving three hours late, guests were still waiting on the newlyweds.

“I had a rash still on my neck so I wanted to get my dress off because I wanted to be comfortable and so he ran into target and got me a shirt that said ‘Bride’ on it and pajama pants and that’s what I wore into our reception,” she said.

While Miller was happy they made it to the reception, she recounts that the majority of the night was spent icing her eyes and crying. But that didn’t stop the couple from completing their first dance — Miller still in her pajamas.

Luckily the Nebraska couple were offered a second chance to get their wedding photos the following week.

This time, Miller was prepared, posing with a hypoallergenic bouquet.
