This Cosmo Summer Slush Will Take Your 'Sex And The City' Rewatch To The Next Level

A frozen, slushy drink can make any summer day or Tuesday evening feel like a mini tropical vacation. While frozen margaritas might be a classic in this category, the more frosty cocktails, the merrier. Now that Sex And The City is back on Netflix, cosmos are back in the chat, and summer is going to need a cold, frosty cosmo summer slush. A classic Cosmopolitan includes citrus vodka, cranberry juice, orange liquor (often Triple Sec or Cointreau), and a splash of lime juice. To make a frozen version, we made a few changes.

The chilling:
Because of the high alcohol content, the two boozy components here won’t freeze. Instead, we chill both the vodka and Cointreau in the refrigerator and make ice cubes from cranberry juice and fresh lime juice. Even with all of the classic ingredients, this summer slush needed something more. Our solution? Frozen strawberries.

The berries:
Frozen whole berries complement the cranberry juice without overpowering it. The strawberries also have the right combination of water, sugar, and pectin to help this cosmo blend up to smooth, slushy perfection. You can garnish your frozen cosmo with a lime wheel, a few whole cranberries, or even a tiny umbrella.

Storage:
Should you have leftovers, you can store them in a sealed container in the freezer. And—plot twist!—the leftovers become a scoopable, boozy sorbet, no churning required. You can make a whole new cocktail by adding scoops to a glass of Prosecco, or you can blend it back to a perfect slushy consistency with a splash of cranberry juice.
