During this summer heat wave, all we can think about is an ice-cold dessert to cool us down. When it’s this hot, no one wants to turn on the oven—in fact, we barely want to go to the grocery store, because that requires extra time spent outside transporting our rapidly-thawing groceries into the house.

Luckily, this weekend, you won’t have to worry about grocery shopping for your favorite pint. Instead, you can swing by Dairy Queen for a free frozen treat all day long.

Dairy Queen's National Ice Cream Day Deal

In celebration of National Ice Cream Day on July 21, Dairy Queen is giving away free ice cream to all its customers. Typically, on the holiday, DQ hands out its famous Dipped Cones at a discounted price. Despite the fast food restaurant offering Confetti Cake, Cookie Monster, Cherry, and Peanut Brittle Crunch dipped cones alongside its classic chocolate variety this summer, this National Ice Cream Day will focus on a different treat.

This year, DQ is giving away its iconic Dilly Bar for free with any purchase. The vanilla soft-serve bar coated with a chocolate hard shell has been a fan-favorite since it joined menus in 1955. Now, all DQ Rewards Members can score a free Dilly Bar alongside any in-app purchase of $1 or more on July 21.

To partake in the National Ice Cream Day deal, you’ll need to download the DQ app and sign up for a free rewards account—that is, if you aren’t already a member. Then, on July 21, navigate to the “Deals” section of the app and you’ll see the Dilly Bar deal. Click “Use in Mobile Order,” then add one Dilly Bar and your favorite DQ item to the cart. Once you have any other item—like a Blizzard or the new Chicken Strip Basket meal—the Dilly Bar will automatically drop to $0.

We don’t know about you, but we can already taste the vanilla ice cream and chocolate shell melting in our mouths this upcoming weekend—and because it’s free, it tastes extra sweet.
