‘Dogfather’ Graeme Hall on the best, worst and goofiest dog breeds
Graeme Hall, also known as ‘The Dogfather’, is back on our screens with a new series of Channel 5’s Dog’s Behaving Badly, where he helps desperate owners with their misbehaving pets.
But the TV presenter has also shared his own personal thoughts on the best and worst dog breeds – as well as the goofiest.
Speaking exclusively to Country Living, Graeme says, when it comes to the best-behaved dog breed, he would have to say the nation’s most popular one: the loveable Labrador.
He explains: "There are loads and loads of Labradors in the country and I don’t see many of them on my show – so that probably tells you all you need to know."
In terms of the worst behaved, Graeme joked: “Oh, I couldn’t possibly comment.”
He goes on to say that Terriers are “hard work”, adding: “I know from experience, but they are all individuals.”
Graeme has first-hand experience too, having owned a Patterdale Terrier, Tish, who sadly passed away late last year.
When it comes to the goofiest dog breed, Graeme says it has to be Boxers. He adds: “Until recently we had a Boxer, and he was the daftest dog you’ll ever meet – a bit of a joker.
"I’m told by somebody close to me that if I was a dog, I’d be a Boxer. I’ll take that.”
Graeme explains that his own 14-year-old dog, Johnny, is pretty daft himself – adding that a DNA test on his dog revealed he is made up of 20 different breeds, with Chihuahua and Staffordshire Bull Terrier as the two dominant ones. “He is pretty unique," the TV trainer continues.
Last year, Graeme Hall also shared with Country Living more about his philosophy on misbehaving dogs and what your pet's stare really means. He also revealed 5 tips to improve communication with your dog, including encouraging more than discouraging and being consistent.
