Although there are new trends each year for spring and summer fashion, nothing beats the timelessness of eyelet. The delicate cutwork detail of eyelet gained popularity in the 1800s as a carefully crafted embroidery technique used to create feminine patterns on articles of women's clothing.

The eyelet technique, also known as broderie Anglaise (French for English embroidery), was traditionally used on white fabric for dresses, skirts and undergarments. The time consuming process made eyelet pieces something of a luxury, but these days eyelet is a summery and romantic detail on many of our more casual wardrobe pieces in an array of colours and patterns.
