Families get back to park life after £130k revamp
A children's play area which was last refurbished nearly three decades ago has reopened after a £130,000 makeover.
Yelverton Park in Stafford has a new toddler multi-play unit and sunken trampoline, along with swings and see-saws now available for the community to enjoy.
More improvements are to come which include a new seating area and picnic benches, while a walkway around the park and footpath through the centre are to be implemented next.
Money for the revamp came from money Stafford Borough Council received from developers as part of house building on the former police headquarters in the area.
The play facility, off Yelverton Avenue, was last refurbished in 1996.
Councillor Gillian Pardesi said she was pleased the council had delivered the scheme for families.
"This has always been a popular park but desperately needed upgrading to keep attracting our young people and families to enjoy outdoor play, leisure and relaxation.
"I am really pleased we have improved yet another park, which residents can continue to enjoy and be proud of, using the contribution we received as part of developments in the area."
